1972 COYOTE

Built by a. J. Foyt for the 1972 Indianapolis 500 race. This car ran in 1972, driven by A.J. Foyt, started 17th finished 25th. In 1973 the car was sold to the Brayton race team, to be driven by dick Simon or lee Brayton. During practice, lee Brayton hit the wall, and the car did not make the race. The car was fitted with gurney eagle suspension for the 1974 race. Rick Muther drove the car during the 1974 race, started 24th and finished 27th.

the tub has a striking resemblance to the eagle tubs, this may be due to the fact that Foyt, purchased bulkheads from Dan Gurney to speed the fabrication of the car. This is why when lee Brayton lost the suspension on the wall in 1973; it was replaced with AAR (eagle) suspension components.

The car is currently in the 1974 configuration as it ran the race, with the exception of the paint. Pat Patrick acquired the car and painted it in the Gorden Johncock / North American van lines paint scheme, and used it as a model for sponsorship.

The tub is in excellent condition with no signs of having been damaged. This car is a simple restoration, other than missing the oil tank; the car needs painting and plumbing and would then be restored to its 1974 Indy configuration.

Brayton racing team is now Brayton engineering, and the crew chief, Jim Wright still works for lee Brayton.
